Experience
- We have been using electronic equipment for 15 years to isolate and locate leaks in water, drain, and gas piping.
- We regularly work with homeowners, property managers, building engineers, engineers, and attorneys to investigate and document plumbing problems.
Water Piping Leaks
- We can use electronic listening equipment to isolate and locate leaks in metal water piping. Using listening equipment is as much an art as it is a science, and required a well-trained experienced technician.
- Electronic equipment may or man not lead to the exact source of a leak, but it can often be a very useful tool.
- Electronic tracing equipment can also be very useful in determining the path and location of buried and concealed piping.
Drain Piping Leaks
- Leaks in drain piping are not uncommon, but identifying the exact location of defective piping can be difficult.
- Using electronic tracing equipment, combined with video pipe inspection, we can often identify the exact location of damaged piping, or at least isolate the branch or small section of damaged piping.
- With very few exceptions, after performing testing we can produce an estimate for the exact cost of repairs.
Sewer Gas & Sewer Odor in Buildings
- Sewer gas and odors can be very difficult to locate, as the gas cannot be seen or heard, and the smell often spreads all around a building through the air conditioning system.
- Generally, our best tool to locate these problems is our smoke generating machine, which is used to induce the smoke into the drain and vent system. Usually, where sewer gas can be smelled, the smoke can be visible. We have been very successful using this method to trace and identify the source of sewer gas in a building.
Video Pipe Inspection
- Video pipe inspection allows you and your plumber to see exactly what problems or defects exist in drain or sewer piping. It is not uncommon to diagnose a problem area in a drain system after using standard drain cleaning methods, but only after using the video pipe inspection equipment can it be determined exactly what and where the problem is.
- After “seeing” the problem, it is usually possible to determine exactly what the costs will be to make repairs.
- The video inspection camera can determine the condition of piping, where blockages or obstructions are located, and what type of repair may be required.
- Video pipe inspection equipment can also be used to determine how well a drain line has been cleaned
- The drain piping will have to be cleared before useful video inspection can be completed because the video pipe inspection usually does not work well under water.
Reports & Documentation
- If reporting is required, we can provide written reports, photos, or tapes of work performed, and results of testing.
Backflow Testing & Certification
- We are licensed to do backflow testing and repair.
- Some contractors are only licensed to test. Our plumbers can test, and are licensed to repair or install backflow prevention products.
- We test irrigation and pool filter backflow devices.
